Yamazaki 25 Year Old.An award-winning Japanese whisky. Yamazaki 25 YO are mature in sherry cask, complex and bold. Every year there is only a finite amount – this limit edition comes with Japanese Mizuhiki. Traditional washi (Japanese paper) and wooden box. This is a superb gift choice and collector’s item.
However. On the nose there are notes of dry cherry, currant and walnut, while on palate you will find hints of marmalade, coffee, cocoa and almond. Acidity at the finish makes it even more complex. A deep and complex sherry cask whisky, with bold dry fruit notes.
Found in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, Yamazaki is Japan’s first bona fide whisky distillery. Sitting in between Osaka and Kyoto – serve by the converging rivers of Katsura, Uji, and Kizu – the stills are varied in shape, size, lyne arm position and some are direct-fired while others are steam-heat. All of which allows for a creation of many different styles of spirit destine for blending as well as bottling as single malt.
An older expression of the excellent Yamazaki whisky. Fully matured in sherry casks for 25 years. Yamazaki 25 Year Old
The town of Yamazaki was chosen to be the site of Japan’s first commercial distillery due to its very ‘Scottish’ climate, and with it being an area where three rivers converge. In its early days, Yamazaki produced both malt and grain for Suntory‘s blends, but the opening of the Chita distillery in 1972 allowed the company to focus on its single malt brand. It is now one of the world’s most desirable. The first spirit ran from the stills in 1924, on 11th November at 11:11am.
Age: 25 Years Old.
