The Macallan Art is the Flower. For its latest release, however, the 200-year-old distillery is looking closer to home, to one of Scotland’s own iconic artists. The Tree of Life Collection, a pair of exclusive single malts, was inspired by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, the famed Scottish architect, designer, and painter of the early 20th century, and was created in collaboration with the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, which is dedicated to preserving and furthering his legacy.

Mackintosh created both high art, including his well-known stained glass pieces, and functional design pieces that were meant to be used as well as admired, such as his striking high-backed chairs. It made sense, therefore, to create two separate bottlings to celebrate his life and art. Order now

Inspired by Mackintosh’s exceptional depiction of nature in architecture, art and design, The Macallan Whisky Mastery Team’s exemplary art of whisky making is expressed in The Macallan Art is the Flower single malt scotch whisky.

This single malt, matured in sherry seasoned European oak casks, recognising Mackintosh’s time in Europe, presents a beautiful, deeply coloured whisky with flavour characteristics that have been allowed to develop naturally over time.

However. Art is the Flower, with aroma and tasting notes of fruits that bear their own blossoms, is a delicate nod to the beautiful words from Mackintosh’s lecture on Seemliness.
