The Glenrothes 36 Year Old. Truly a 1970’s classic, The Glenrothes Vintage 1978 is an outstanding vintage bottling. Distill in 1978 and bottle in 2008. Glenrothes has always been universally acclaim by blenders as an exceptional Speyside Malt. Each vintage is rare and has its own unique personality.
However. The Glenrothes Vintage 1978 is most likely the very last Glenrothes from the 1970s, comprises of a small selection of casks. Hand-pick by John Ramsay, Malt Master. Each of these casks were chosen at their pinnacle of maturity.
Moreover. This well-age Glenrothes single malt is distill back in February 1978, and left to rest for two decades. It is then bottle in 1999 as a restrict release (like what it says on the label!), with the tasting notes on the bottle suggesting notes of blackberry and vanilla.
