    Macallan 1945 68 Year Old, This sensational vintage Speymalt Macallan is distill on the 12th April 1945. And then matures at the Macallan distillery, in casks 106 and 109, for many years before be move to a Gordon & MacPhail bond warehouse in Elgin. On the 17th May 1978 and the 14th July 1980 respectively.

    The casks lay there until the decision making to finally bottle this landmark Speysider, at the ripe old age of 68, on the 15th August 2013.

    However, Distill in 1945 towards the end of World War II (Macallan is one of the few allow to keep distilling during the war). And bottle in 2013. This extraordinary 68 year old, great grandfather malt is a genuine piece of whisky history. Bottle at cask strength.  However reduce to an understandable 45.1% after such extended maturation exclusively in first fill Sherry Hogsheads. Some historical perspective helps one appreciate this whisky all the more.

Lastly, the decision is made to bottle this fantastic spirit on the 15th of August 2013. Being one of the oldest bottlings of single malt, this truly is a piece of Scotland’s liquid history.
