    Macallan 1940 50 Year. This fascinating 50 year old Speyside single malt is distill on the 1st January 1940. And mature at the Macallan distillery. In casks 3, 5 and 7, for 30 years before be move to a Gordon & MacPhail warehouse in Elgin, where it lays to rest for a further 20 years.

    More over, An incredibly rare specimen that is bottle in the early 1990’s for the vintage Speymalt series. And comes complete with a stunning presentation case, COA and tasting notes.

    Macallan 50 year old is one of the most collectable of whiskies, which have dramatically increase in value over the last twenty years.

    It is consigne at Tennants’ Harrogate Office, during one of their regular Fine Wine and Whisky valuation days. The vendor have  given it by a colleague a number a years ago. And hadn’t realise how much it had appreciated in value.

    Furhtermore, The bottle contains whisky distill on 1st January 1940 and laid down by Macallan for thirty years. Before the cask is bought by independent bottlers Gordon and Macphail.

    Lastly, They move the cask to their warehouses in Elgin where it remained maturing for another 20 years before being bottle. It form part of Gordon and Macphail’s Speymalt range and is sold with its original presentation case and certificate.

    Tasting Note
    Nose: Lots of sherry and Macallan character. Cocoa, coffee, hints of smoke, bittersweet, hay, earth.
    Palate: Sultana, thick and chewy, hints of smoke, spices, nutmeg, musty, deep.
    Finish: Good finish, all on sherry, mellows and fills the palate.
